Hi guys, was wondering what's the best brand of oil for the W213 E class 2.0 diesel. Many thanks.

Anything with MB 229.51 approval.
Hmm, you see I'm a bit confused since the Mercedes website says " MB229.71 ", was wondering if it's a big deal if I use 229.51 instead of .71?

229.51 and .52 are normally 5W30 , 229.71 is a 0W20 .

Each higher number pushes the fuel economy performance .

Was wondering what was happening when I read in another article about an 229.81 spec. thought that it had to be a mistake......so 229.52 is not the highest nr...;)

Engines are designed to run on a particular spec of oil.
For example my 129 is designed to run on 229.3 (typ 10w40) or 229.5 (typ 5w30 or 5w40) which are both thicker than 229.71 (typ 0w20). Running on too thin an oil can lead to noisy lifters etc as the viscosity is too low to build proper pressure due to greater tolerances in older engines.
