Hi all,

I have a 2022 W213 E63S with drivers pack. All very nice however Mercedes Me does not appear in the MBUX screen, and hence it will not connect to my phone. Furthermore, and I assume as a result of no MM, I do not have track pace on the car - which is disappointing. The live traffic updates do not work either, long story short I do not believe that the car is connecting to the internet.

I dropped the car to the local dealer who said it needs a software update. Current software on the car is .80, I understand the latest version is .81.

Two days later and still no joy, car is still with dealer. Before I get too frustrated, has anybody else experienced anything similar, and/or know of a solution. I have no confidence in the dealer...

Any help appreciated.

There have been issues with the MB data services for the last few weeks, but they seem to be mainly resolved now. Have you had the car from new? Judging from the tone of your post, it sounds like it may be a recent acquisition? If it had a previous owner, then the car Wil need to be re-registered from the previous owner and connected to your Mercedes Me accont before most features will work. Also, try going to the connectivity menu and check the status to see if it's connected. You should also have a blue 4g next to the SOS in the top left of the center screen if you have a data connection.

Thanks BillyBoy - a lot of useful advice, most appreciated. The car is a recent purchase, 1 previous owner. I have had Mercedes Me working on my mobile, the issue was that I could not connect to the car as the app itself is not present on MBUX. Interestingly there wasn't a 4G next to the SOS, suggesting that (at the time of the OP) there was no data connection. I'm pleased to report now that after many days with the dealer, and a software update, the car is now connecting via Mercedes Me and there is live traffic via the navigation, so success in part...

I still do not have track pace. The car is a facelifted W213 E63 S with 'drivers pack', which I believed provided me with the track pace facility, however when I check compatibility via https://shop.mercedes-benz.com/en-gb/connect/pdp/amg-track-pace/605, I am told that my car is Not Compatible?... Question is - can it be retrofitted to the car, presumably it is only software and therefore can be 'activated' by subscription or other means. Again - the dealer had no idea. They actually asked me if it was an E class and just AMG line...

Also, I don't know whether this is related but whenever I try to use Race Start I get a warning on the dash saying "Race start unavailable, refer to user manual"... I'm in 'Race mode', engine warmed up, foot firmly on brake, floor the accelerator and the warning comes up...

In the SL63, race start only works if the engine oil temperature is over 80°C, sport handling mode is activated, the steering wheel is in the straight ahead position, the engine is running, the vehicle is stationary, the brake pedal is depressed, the transmission is in D, the drive program selector is set to RS, Race Start Confirm Paddle Up is selected, accelerator pedal is depressed fully, engine speed is at least 3,500 RPM.

If you do not depress the accelerator fully within two seconds, and release the brake pedal within 5 seconds, the whole thing is cancelled.

By the time you have remembered to do all the above, the race has started and you are sitting on the grid.

I have never tracked my car, so have never used race start. I found the above instructions in the digital owners manual, which is available in the car settings.

I hope that is helpful.

The OP said "I have no confidence in the dealer..." Ha Ha Ha

I wonder if dealers read these forums would be a learning curve

+1.
If a dealer has to ask if an E63s is an E class or an AMG line, it suggests he is absolutely clueless about the brand and should get a job more suited to his capabilities. Flipping burgers at McD's maybe?

Thankyou SL63 Mark - I tried with the traction control in sport handling mode, no joy. Interestingly the 'drift mode' works very well - great fun!

mioba & AMGeed - yes very worrying that the dealer wasn't confident on what model my car actually is...!

For anyone else with any similar experiences, I've still no joy with Track Pace!

A slightly unrelated question, is the Nav package with live updates worth subscribing to?

Personally I am not a fan of all these subscription services. Its a great business model to tie customers in to spend.

That said wrt navigation i cant say. If its anything like apple or google maps then great. Hope someone with the subs can answer

It's very much a personal view point. Personally I paid the extra subscription when the free one ran out. Others swear by third party things such as Wase, but for me, the convenience of it being fully integrated all the time without having to plug things in and select Android Auto / Apple Carplay is what I like. The LiveTraffic is pretty good at getting the best route and adapting as traffic changes I think. Given the price of a Mercedes, a few pounds on the maps etc. isn't really here or there. The trouble in the internet era is people never expect to pay for any thing software based so object for paying for a service ( and if course there are some valid free services out there)

Agreed. Live Traffic isn’t perfect but it is useful to have and I will renew must subscription when the current one expires. I also like having everything integrated in the headunit.
