I have a set of W219 roof bars. Is there any way to get replacement bolts to attach the bars. I have lost 2 of them. Mercedes says I have to get new bars.

Very surprised if you couldn’t get something like those from Screwfix

A pair of cap head allen bolts will do. Measure the thread length, then pop to your local bolt store and get them and the allen key. Think they are M8. Or get a set of 4, so all the feet have the same fastening going forward.

The only difference is that the plastic lever you get with the roof bars fits the shank on those.

A bit rich of MB to try to sell you a new roof bar set.

In the end caps will be a 'Thule' mark and a MB part No beginning 219xxxx The latter numbers may well be the Thule part number. Give Roland at Exeter Roofracks and roofbozes a call, see if he can help. 01392 444482

Thanks All.Managed to get some G8 allen key head bolts. They fit perfectly and are easer to fit. I have replaces all 4 original bolts. They are stainless steel as well to boot. So if someone loses the bolts please look for G8 thread bolts 22mil.

Hello oldmedic999,
I have the same problem. Could you tell me the dimensions of the screws?

Thanks in advanced.

Regards,
Ricardo.

Sorry. I thought that 22mil was very short and could be an error.
Thank you very much.

Had a similar problem when, although they denied it, the dealer broke one of the plastic screw in locating pegs on the metal engine cover on mine. Not worth the argument thought I, but parts department told me that the plastic pegs not available separately and I had to buy a new engine cover. Yeah right - spent £4 at Accu group for 4 headless shoulder screws in stainless steel which are much better than the original plastic garbage. AccuGroup are excellent for really obscure fastenings of all types.
