Hi,
This weekend I bought my first Merc, 2006 cls500 m113.
I have only done about 100m so far and noticed that wiper blades do not stay in proper position when being rest (or parked let's say meaning not working).
How can I adjust their arms?
Is it like every other car where you have to unscrew the bolt and remove the arm from the shaft and re-install the arm to a different position?
Thank you

Depends what's happening. If the stroke is just on the wrong part of the screen, then yes, you can just re-position the arm on the taper spindle. If the wipers wipe the correct part of the screen but park high and move downwards first, it could be that the mechanism has slipped on the motor spindle.
(Assuming a 'normal' twin wiper mechanism and not a single wiper set-up as on some Mercs)

Hi, thanks for your reply. It is a twin arm system and I believe that they park below their proper rest position. I initially notice that the driver's one , when in operation, doesn't go all the way till the A pillar. Then I saw that both of them are parked quite low, passenger's edging tip is resting on the plastic cover and not on the windscreen. I have ordered new Bosch aerotwins to replace them and I will also re-position the arms since it's the common way.

Good luck removing them if they've not been off in a while. I replaced the driver's arm on my R Class & had to use a suspension ball joint separator to free it ..... it was that tight. ;)

Quick update on this. For my surprise arms removed with force but within one minute of pulling and with no extra dramas.
As said before, they both parked quite low with result the driver's wiper not to reach A pillar as close as I wanted while passenger's side was sitting very low and on the plastic cover of windscreen.
I am happy with the results. passenger's side was a success from 1 attempt. Driver's had to re-position it 3 times to finally reach very close to A pillar (when in operation)

Have you tried them at speed? The extra wind pressure can tend to push the driver's arm further towards the A post at speed.

Good point, I tried them when I was parked and also at 60mph on A10.
But I didn’t try them in their higher speed. From my experience from other cars, I just remembered with your question that when wipers operate in their higher speed they tend to reach a bit closer to A pillar. So maybe a will have to do a 4th adjustment in driver’s side

My Vauxhalls used to have marks within the glass at the lower parking positions .... I can't say I've noticed or looked for them on my Merc

yes that true, usually there are marks for the rest position of the blades.
On my cls's windscreen there aren't any marks, that was first thing to check to be on the safe side. windscreen seems to be original saint-cobain with Merc label on in too.

On my w219 the wiper hits the A pillar, how do you remove the arm... There is no center nut that I can see.

I had the opposite problem since wiper was leaving an uncleared area approximately 1.5" from A pillar. Now it's 0.5"
Please have a look at the bottom of the arm. You will find a black round cap/cover. You have to remove it with a plastic trim tool or a thin screwdriver and you will find the bolt underneath.
Have a look and let us know
