The n/s door mirror has had a whack at some stage and the cover wouldn't clip on so I decided to strip it and see whats what. The wires to the mirror motor were all broken and the clip inside the case was missing. Can anyone tell me where the plug for this loom might be ( in the door ?) as it will need replaced because all the wires are black so how to trace them. Also I need a cover if anyones got one for sale in silver.
Don't want much do I :).
Thanks in anticipation

It will be right at the top in the door, behind the plastic triangle, unless it has dropped down, you should be able to hook it up without removing the door panel

This video might be of help. It shows the door control module is accessible without removing the complete door card and shows the wiring is easily disconnected.

Unusual for the wires not to be colour coded. Have you removed the loom tape?

The heater and dimming cables are black, the others are coloured

Ha ha, Yes I removed the loom tape :), all the wires going to the actual mirror part are as TV says black. I couldn't see if they had and sort of teeny weeny numbers on them as I forgot me specs. I could take a flyer on this and join them as they seem to be broken at very slightly different lengths.( it's in the genes to try to fix something before I fling it ). I had a Scan recently and my missus bet the nurse the scanner would be in bits before I got out the other end :). Either way its a mess and new loom prob best way to go. Where from and how much

You cannot buy mirror parts other than the cover and the glass

Hi Malcolm,

I wonder if you could give me some advice.

I have an 05' W220 and I need to take the door mirror off to replace some breakage in the wires.

There are two plugs in the door control module but I don't seem to be able to get them out no matter how I pulled and yanked on them!

Does it need a special tool to pull them out?

You help is very much appreciated.

Best regards,
David.

All these connectors are clipped in, look really close and you will see what you need to press to release them

Thanks Malcolm,

I did look but couldn't see any clips.

I managed to solder back the wire to the heated mirror on situ.
I will take another closer look this weekend if weather allows.

Best regards,
David.

I use a magnifying glass to examine some of these connectors, otherwise near impossible, so easy once you know how.

The door ECU on my CL has 10 connections to it and all of the plugs unclip in a different manner

Thanks Malcolm,

I will try it.

The ones on the W211 came out very easily and I managed to fix all the wires.

I have tried it 5 time on the W220 and still no joy !

Best regards,
David.
