W220 or W221 320CDI

Hi Members,

Can you please assist with this dilemma? I drive 72 miles to work everyday (round trip) and also need to ferry the family on the weekend (three kids and a wife!)

Which one out of the two is better on fuel on the motorway and which one has more comfortable seats in the back for three?

I am looking at a W220 on a "55 plate and an "06 W221.

Is one more reliable than the other?

My other car is a CL500 that I inherited from a family member and I absolutely love it!

First will have the IL6 engine and second the V6 - I had both in E class variants and the V6 was slightly better on fuel economy - but only by a few mpg not a huge difference.

Odd, I always found the straight-six to be (slightly) better on fuel.
But I now have a 221 with the v6 and it is a far, far superior car to the 220 in every way, and even the purchase price isn't too different. 221 all day

221 is head and shoulders above the 220 in my opinion , its a class act ! But if the 220 is alot cheaper ( likely ) then it maybe worth a shot , its still a fine car even by today's standard

Any feedback on the rear seats? Can they hold three adults or two adults and a child in the middle comfortably?

I had a 2006 221 for a couple of years. Lovely smooth V6, reasonable fuel ecomomy. Only trouble you may find is the dreaded rust but that is common on Mercedes vehicles of this period. After some kind soul wrote it off by driving into the back of it on the motorway, I replaced it with a 2011 E350. Now that is some motor......

My 07 221 didn't have any rust pal
