Can anyone help,iv'e started having problems with the car starting in a morning.Open the car,insert key wait for glow plug light to go out which it does turn key and it spins over and then just as its about to fire it cuts out,try to re start but there's nothing when the key is turned again.Also the remote does not work at this point,new batteries have been fitted and the problem is also the same with the spare key,again this has been fitted with new batteries.If i leave the car for about five to ten minutes the car will start and i have no more problems through a full day,i can start and stop the engine as many times as i wish with no problems.The problem is when the cars parked over night in my garage.Going to take the car in to europa in sheffield tommorrow to see whats going on but just wondered if anyone else had suffered the same problem at any point.Any help would be welcome.

Have had a similar problem last couple of weeks. Could not unlock car in the mornings with remote for about 10-15 minutes. When I finally managed to get in, would not start for a while. Once started no problems whatsoever all day. Had it hooked up on Star and problem turns out to the Electronic Ignition Switch.
Ordered a switch and having it replaced tomorrow. About £370 plus fitting.
Will post update in next couple of days.

It sounds like you have air in the system, could be just O rings gone and need replacement

Replaced EIS yesterday and everything seems to be working as it should. No problems in unlocking or starting the car.

The problem iv'e been having has stopped,will see how things go over the next few days.

Possibility of condensation in the key or EIS? Clearing itself once mobile? I'm just guessing.

I noticed that the car was much easier to start with the milder weather.

Car has had to go in to my local dealer today as the starting problem reared its head again this time with a vengence.Took fifteen minutes to start this morning and had problems at lunch time also,that was the final straw.Left it with them and their going to start it in the morning and see what happens.Will keep you posted but it looks like a new ignition switch ouch.

For guidance I paid £309 + VAT for the switch and an hours labour fitting by my independent. Good luck

Well had to have a new eis fitted (ignition switch),car now back to how it should be.My wallets now much lighter £309 +vat +£126 for star tests grand total £511.98 inc vat fitted.On the upshot its cured i hope the esp light making an apearence which the guy doing the work on my car told me is all interconnected with the eis unit,he did another test after fitting the new part and all is well,no other faults detected so thats good.phew
