A friend of mine unfortunately had his gearbox give up on him a couple of days ago. He had the problem diagnosed and the torque converter needs replacing and the garage estimated the job at €2,500. So he's a little disappointed at the price and was hoping to source a good used gearbox instead.
His car is a 1999 W220 S430 with a 5-speed automatic gearbox. Car has just over 100k miles. I believe it shares the same model gearbox with the S500.
I have done a search but can't find much information. I looked on eBay Germany and found one but it's very expensive.
Where would be a good place to look for a replacement gearbox in the UK and Ireland?
