I have overrun the service interval a lirttle on my S Class - (too busy to fit in with MB dealer timetable and they can't/won't accomodate me), but I noted a couple of weeks ago that I got an error message - BAS - visit workshop! & ESP - visit workshop! This was accompanied by heavy steering after driving 20 or so yards. I got the message two or three times and then it disappeared. I assumed it may have beeen a programmed incident to ensure I got the car serviced.

This week the problem has recurred and has lasted most of the week. I amconcerned that I can't get to the dealer when they are pen or not too busy - does anyone know what the problem may be and how it can be fixed?

Many thanks in advance.

Heavy steering would always indicate a first check on the power steering fluid level ..and a check for leaks

The brake ilght switch could put the ESP BAS light on

If you have the speed sensitive steering this could all be the speed signal fault the brake switch

Thank you Malcolm. I did check this and could see no sign of any leakage. Thanks anyway.

This is an electronic fault as I said. It could be a starting blip with a slightly low battery, or an ESP speed sensor fault.

They will be recorded and can be read off
