The W221 blues

Thanks for your reply the star computer results were inconclusive though.
However I am wondering how to open the boot as the locking mechanism appears to have failed. makes all the right clunks but does not release the lid. The key wont open it either ?? HH

You should be able to turn the metal key blade in the löck, operate the handle as you hold the lock key turned. It will engage the handle.

Hi the handle operates the electric release which clunks but nothing else happens. The position of the metal key makes no difference. HH

You should be able to override it by pulling the handle and lifting the boot up.

As I've found out with my transmission, lots of faults get thrown up and it takes a pro to interpret them!

Good luck.

It helps to oil the self closing part of the mechanism that's visible. The boot closing mech on mine grumbles and clings when being opened occasionally and a coat of light oil sorts it out
