Hello! My parking sensors have started to stop working intermittently. I am getting the following error when scanning using iCarSoft MB II:

- 9009 B8/3 (Inner left front PTS ultrasonic sensor): Sensor is faulty. Current and stored.

According to some youtube video comments, a lot of people have had success removing moisture and getting them working again by spraying with WD40. Unfortunately this didn't work for me so I intend on replacing.

I tried doing a search but couldn't come across any DIY guide and just wanted to know if anyone has changed front parking sensors on the W221 S class before? Specifically, does the front bumper need to come off or is there any way to get the lower grill unlatched so I can reach the sensor without removing the front bumper?

Many thanks in advance.

Not sure specifically about the W221 but I have a W209 CLK and just replaced my inner front left sensor which was damaged.

I didnt remove the whole bumper but removed the bolts and retaining clips on the left side only which gave enough to pull out the bumper to reach the sensor.

is this car late enough it has the 4 round visible sensors ?

earlier high spec ones had radars instead and this is another level of fun - then they all moved in 2007 to the visible ones - round ones should be plug and play - pull the covers from beneath and see if there's access
