Just thought i'd share with everyone this recent job that we did, where we upgraded the headlamps to the latest LED/Xenon ILS headlamps on a 2007 S class. We've previously done later ones, so it was good to get it working on an earlier car.

The car had a new bumper with the LED strip daylights, so you can see from the first two photos the headlamps out (the white towel prevents the headlamp washer from squirting me), and then the first headlamp installed..

Now we install the 2nd headlamp .. and put the bumper with the LED DRLs back in.

You can then see the DRL on full in Daytime mode, and the DRL's dim with the LED side and lower lamps in the main headlamps.

I think the W221 ILS lights look *so* good.

Needless to say, its not the cheapest job to do, it is many hours of installation, firmware updates to all kinds of parts of the car, and then some interesting coding .. and of course the headlamps themselves are serious pieces of kit with 3 control units attached underneath to control the Xenons and allow the headlamps to swivel.

Cheers

Richard

Its about 5K plus the bumper and spraying thereof. Just the headlamps and ECUs for that are almost 3K. All except the latest 2009 cars need a new front SAM. And its takes up to about a day and a half by the time all the firmware updates are done, and the front end is off and on again.

So, beautiful but not for the feint hearted :) But if you ever have a front end smash, its a good plan !!
