Hi All,

I have two questions and I need your valuable suggestions and comments:

1 - Does anyone know where can I locate the Airbag module on a B class 2011, and how to replace it?
2- what tools do I need to remove the dashboard, I want to replace the passenger airbag and driver airbag

Thank you all.

As they can explode, I would leave this job to the experts.

Thank you for the reply, I have bought a new module and I need to replace it. I thought it could be just plug and play for the module.

cheers

Do so if you are 1000% certain you are doing correct and going to set of the bags, I would say a 2011 car would be written off if the bags went pop. I would leave to it to the experts.
ps how dou know the module needs replacing and whats wrong with the bags.

Thank you for your comments, the SRS is on all the time and tried to clear it but with no success.

I think give it another thought :(

Have you tried replacing the brake switch?
What error codes do you get?

I must say, going for airbag replacement, when you have SRS light on, is the last thing I would've thought about.
Seat occupancy sensors, corroded plugs, water damaged SRS module, flooded battery compartment, the list is long - you really need a proper scan, and not on Chinese OBD dongle ... at least an iCarsoft MB V2

PS You can even buy mine

I agree: get the codes read. The airbags themselves are way down on the list of likely candidates for this error. On my partner's 2011 A class it was the seat occupancy sensor and my Carly code scanner pointed me in the right direction... for once!

If you do go ahead with replacing the airbag, disconnect the battery for at least 10 minutes before you start and, when you've finished, make sure you're nowhere near the airbag when you reconnect the battery. But then you need to safely dispose of the old one, as it still has potential to explode. All in all, one of those situations where an hour's labour at a garage (it shouldn't even take them that long - you don't have to remove the dash) is probably worth the cost.

FWIW, I have removed and re-attached driver's airbag on my old A200 C169 twice - custom steering wheel and later, carbon-dipped control surrounds.

As above - take your time and follow the instructions.

Having said that, I doubt it'll actually come to this - far more likely to be one of the reasons mentioned in two posts above.

The SRS can be related to many many many things and not just the airbags, I have never seen an airbag fail. SRS can even be a seatbelt switch.

You need a reputabale indy or a delaer to get the codes read, and correctly diagnose.

Thank you for your valuable comments :) I am in the process of purchasing VIDENT iAuto702Pro an ODB2 device. Will give it another chance. Do you know where the actual module is located on this B Class model? Again, thank you and your comments about having a Chinese ODB2 made me laugh ... :)

Which module? The passenger airbag is accessed by removing the glovebox. The SRS control module is under the centre console.
