W447 accelerator gone dead

Over the last week I have the same issue twice. When I brake hard, jab the brake type of brake the engine light come on and accelerator pedal goes dead.
After riding clutch to get the van off the road I can turn it off for 5mins and then on again and I have it back

Any ideas

I have something similar , however this seems to occur once every few hundred miles .
