Anyone any idea if the walnu surround by the heater controls is the same between a 'c' and an 'e' class?

Specifically, will this one, for a w210, fit a w202?

Looks VERY similar!!!!!

Thanks!

Hi Dave,

I think that's a '202 part, described incorrectly. My mate at work has a '97 E class and his has another 'cubbyhole' in the fascia.

I could be wrong but you're on the money with the C-class resemblance.
Are you looking for one?

Yes. Had trouble with the heater lighting, so needed to remove the panel.

First thing to do.. Remove the stereo.. Umm, nope! Would NOT come out without a BG fight, Even using the proper keys. Eventually got it out, and repaired the light, but ****ed the stereo up. So... New stereo ordered. When it turned up, thouht a-ha! Here we go!! But... Could I get the old one out again?? Err... NOPE!! Anyway, sorry to say that there's a couple of, shall we say, blemishes on the walnut bit now, and my eyes are drawn to them all the time.. Grrr!!

Thanks for that, Malcolm. I haven't checked anywhere else. Yet. From your links, it looks like the 210 one is straight sided, whereas the 202 is trapezoidal (Good word!)., but it doesn't look that way on the pic.. Hmm...

Ok, I see the problem now.

Have you mashed it badly?

I've had good results blending marks out of these bits. If it's still in one piece it should be possible to re-face and polish it up.
I know a french polisher who works wonders, must be cheaper than a century!

Let's just say that if it were just a case of polishing, I'd be happy!

Okey-dokey-smokey.:D

Let me see the extent of the damage. Nice clear piccie and i'll speak to the FP 'guru' - he looks after all the solid oak timber where I work. He will know whether it can be saved, i'm dead sure of that.

No offence intended but ....

You 'ninny'!!;);)

And if you would like it finished in a clear plastic 2 pack,,I would do that for you free, and that would be a factory finish

Hi Dave,

Have you calmed down enough to decide on a suitable remedy for your 'chivved up' panel-type problem?:(

Had a look today, and lo! In the little cubby hole in front of the gear selector, was a small fragment of my heater panel that had chipped off. A little superglue later, and it looks LOADS better! I'll still keep my eye out for a new panel on ebay, or wherever, but the urgency has subsided for now! ;)
