Warning light on 1992 E230 - anyone know what it means? - Wh

I've just purchased this car but don't have an owners manual.
When I put the headlights on I get a dashboard light which I'm assuming is a warning light.

It's in a group of 3 on the right hand side, is amber and looks like a picture of a light bulb. The other lights beside it are 'ABS' and what looks rather like a picture of windshield washing.

Does anyone know what the light means?

Sounds like the bulb failure warning light. It lights up when one of the exterior lights that should be on isn't.

So if it comes on with just sidelights on, then it's a sidelight, tail light or number plate bulb that has failed; if it comes on when you press the brake pedal, it's a brake light; etc.

Alternatively, if it has always come on since you had the car and you have checked all the lights visually, it could be that one of them is the wrong rating, e.g. number plate light has a 5W when it should be 10W (not vouching for accuracy of example, just illustrating the point).
