Do I assume the answer is no on both counts. Or if you correct some faults the light goes out anyway. Anybody?

I assume it goes out on its own or can be reset by the mechanic's computer.
I don't think there is a way from the dash although disconnecting the battery for 30 mins would probably do the trick.

Are there any malfunctions showing up on the display? You would have to repair these faults for it to clear.

The battery trick sometimes works (usually if it's done early)

These light are very sensitive.
More times than not when brought back for dianostics, there is no problem and it is just reset.

But if it re-occurs after re-set, I would be inclined to look into the cause of it more thouroghly.
