C180K Coupe 2003 40000miles

een getting infrequent warning messages on display eg, SBS, Light Sensor and most often -once or twice a week just after starting - Alternator Visit workshop (in red text)
But these items are Ok
Had alternaor by specialist in particular checked and was told its OK but suggestion was made to have ECU -whatever that is - checked

If its faulty can it be repaired or do I have to replace - if the latter can anyone help with a part number please
Thanks
David

This could be a SAM fault David, there should be something shown on STAR

Agree with Malc, seen this a few times now, new front SAM, that is the front control module which holds you fuses, its just a thinking fuse board is the easy way to explain it!!

Thank you

Thank you for such a helpful reply pity I am not near you to give you this job
Despite not knowing the modern car terms I am reasonably practical so can you tell me if it is easy to replace and where do I find this SAM ?

Under your bonnet, o/s inner wing, there is a cover with two twist locks, remove, there your find a box with two sring clips, under there is the fuse board, under that is the SAM, its not a straight forward to replace and needs coding once replace!

It is easy enough, but it does need to be programed or it will not know what the car has

Hi and welcom to MB ownership

Please by all means be DIY on your new MB but please do an aweful lot of reading beforehand. Search threads on this forum

As Malcolm says you can do what you are intending BUT it will need reprogramming...ie on STAR ,so you will need a main dealer or good indie to get the job finished

Tread carfully:rolleyes:
