Hi all, just wanted to write about a problem I've just had with my 2001 C240. The wife started it up the other day and while fiddling with seatbelt/radio etc the engine died. It would not start again. No faults were displayed. We managed to get a local mechanic to plug a diagnostic computer in, again no faults were reported. He deduced a fuel problem, so up came the back seat, off came the tank covers, and low and behold, there was a burnt out wire on one of the plugs in the wiring loom leading to the level-sensors, right in the petrol tank. Auto-electrician fixed it in no time, but the consequences may have been disastrous. Mercedes have since modified the wiring system, which suggests to me that they are aware of a problem. Anyone else heard of this?. I feel I ought to send the bill to Mercedes as it is obviously a design fault. Any Thoughts?
