Warranty work - how to get it done !

Mercedes dealers are keen to make money any way they can , at the moment. Particularly, they need to keep the workshops busy. My local MB dealer - MB Chelsea (which is in Wandsworth) - are advertising and offering to check if any warranty work is outstanding on a vehicle !!!!

The dealer is reimbursed for warranty work by Daimler (Chrysler) or whatever they are calling themselves today, BUT at a considerably lower rate than the customer charge-out rate. Hence, a dealers usual reluctance to push warranty claims. Why have a car on the ramp at say £45 per hour when you can make £95 ?

I have not checked with any other dealers yet, but in the current climate, warranty work is better than no work. Now is the time to claim for that rusty 210.

I have seen a London dealership charging GBP150.00 per hour for labour. Any member seen a higher figure?

My indie charges GBP45.00 per hour. Any member seen a lower figure?

Also on offer now is a free heath check, good if you have warranty, bad if your paying, they go over it like you wouldn't believe!!!

philharve - i take my SEAT to a local VAG indie specialist and he charges £40 an hour. I know the brand's not as prestige but the rate is the same if he is working on a 1.0 VW Lupo or an Audi A8 6.0 W12.

I'm based North West too where it's all flat caps and whippets and things are probably a tad cheaper than in your neck of the woods.

All in all - i'd say that £45 is bob on right.

We have whippets down here as well but they don`t wear flat caps, usually a hooded jacket
But you are right, prices are higher , top quality indie about £60-65.
