The cream carpets in my 1994 E320 AMG cabrio are looking really really grubby. I have not had the car valetted since i bought it whilst i deal with getting more important bits up to scratch, however...

I was thinking of trying to take up all the carpets and chuck it all into a big laundrymat washing machine and then spraying with scotchguard.

Has anybody tried to take up the carpets in an old e-class? is it all glued down and am i asking for trouble by attempting this?

cheers, soft top

I think you'll find that the carpets are bonded to a thick latex-like material specially shaped to fit the several wells in the floorpan, so your laundering idea would be a no-go unfortunately.
