Hi guys,

I saw this WASHMATIK CLEANING SYSTEM advertised on some shopping channel and unlike all the other useless junk they advertise, I was interested by this.

It seems like a good idea, where just a bucket of soapy water is needed. And you don't use the same water twice. (and no, I'm not selling it, lol).

Link: google 'washmatik' or it's on eBay: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/WASHMATIC-WAS...ryZ72201QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Anyone use this or know people who have? Should I pay £23.99 for it???

I am not one for gimmicks, but i did see the demo some years back,if you live in a flat or the like it would seem to be an answer, nothing to break or wear out, give it a go. I do not know how long a bucket of water would last though.

I bought one about a hundred years or so ago from The Motor Show, and it never worked. Pile of parc.

gimmicks....as per television

pile of parc ... as per chershirecat

oh and useless junk as you so correctly point out.

I think the best way to clean your cars is the good old fashioned way. bucket, sponge plenty of soapy water, and rinsing etc etc.

It makes me wander why people think they can break a mould of such a tried and tested means with new wonder products.
whats more simpler than the above way of washing a car.

Presumably it's a syphon with a valve that only opens when you move the brush. Seems fair enough. It's just trying to simulate what you get with a brush attached to a hosepipe which is what I use anyway. However, as they say, a hose uses 200l and they use 10l. As its the water flowing the dirt away that's doing the work, I'd rather use 200l and have a clean car! Failing that, a sponge, dunked and squeazed as you wash will distribute the same water as the washmatic so I can't really see the point, unless redipping the sponge every 20 secs is a major issue.

I saw one of these demonstrated at a local market.
He made it look great and people couldn't get their money out fast enough.

He had a bucket of soapy water for washing a door panel, then put a bucket of rinse water on the roof (on a towel) that he used to rinse with the panel with the same hose.

Vigorous use of the brush had lots of soapy water coming up from the bucket on the floor, remove the brush head and a quick jiggle of the hose in the bucket primed the hose for continuous flow from the roof bucket for rinsing.

The seller was fantastic, as were lots of other traders selling various products.
All the stuff was tat but the sellers were great at their art.

i bought one of these

at the Manchester motor show....in 1985. I'm still using the brush, as a wheel brush just dipped in a bucket. the novelty of the rest of it wore off quite soon, but it was useful where I couldn't get a hose hooked to a tap. I loved the foot valve design. true genius.

Yes of course, As per my opinion you should by this as its actually clean your car. But if you don't want to send such a huge amount you could do with bucket & sponge:D
