Ok - I know - I've been singing the praises of the dealerships and for the most part I stand by that but I came across a screw up and as it can happen anywhere I thought I should mention it.
Following the service, the car felt a bit 'odd'. Anyway, a week later I cleverly mangled a tyre and as I never trust tyre fitters I thought I'd check them, figuring the new one would need altering but confident the other 3 were fine having been checked at the service.
I run 32/38 so was a bit confused when I found my car at 22/26.
The sharp ones of you would already have twigged... Questioning my sanity I checked the chart in the filler cap. Sure enough 32/38..... or .... 2,2/2,6 bar.
I imagine they got the junior to do a few small jobs as part of his training, whilst the mechanic did the under bonnet work. After all, how could anyone get 'check the tyres' wrong?? ....I have my answer!
The dealer was very applogetic and I'm pretty sure backsides will have been kicked but if it can happen at a dealership it can happen anywhere.
So be warned.

A good reminder to check the tyres, it saves fuel as well having the correct pressure.

At my last service I watched the regular mechanic check the pressures on my tyres. He then stole my plastic valve caps and replaced them with metal ones :-(

on my last A service my report said i had 32 in my spare ,which i found a bit strange as i had let it down the night before.apon seeing the service manager and relaying my concerns that the service had not been done according to THEIR service book ,and checking the spare was indeed flat, the bill was reduced by around £300,maybe they might do the job the way it should be done next time.

I always check my own tyre pressures. The worst are tyre fitters they only know 28 in my experience.

Feb 2007 saw me replace all four on the barge and driving home the car felt decidedly unsteady it was lurching from side to side and wandering.

Surely it could not be the tyres! I have in the car my now very old Dunlop branded Schrader plunger type gauge I checked the pressures, not one tyre was the same, varying between 28 and 40psi. I went straight back to the tyre center and was met by total denial "WE would never send a car out like that" and accused me of going to a garage and inflating them so that I could get recompense.

Reported them to the local trading standards officer, never heard another thing and yes they are still in business!
