Water coming in via Window pillar

Hi everyone, I have just bought a 1983 W123 and am really enjoying it!

However, I have found a little water dribbles from the top of the plastic trim covering the pillar that comes between the passenger window and the windscreen. I am not sure if it is due to the worn and cracked door rubbers...? Is there a drain hole along the guttering along the roofline that could be blocked? The water has settled under the carpet.

I knew there was a tiny leak somewhere when I bought it. I am sure its not coming up from the floor...

Anyway, any suggestions are most welcome!

The sunroof drains block at the bottom - underneath the car.

The sunroof seal is almost irrelevant as they all leak. The drains take away this water. Usually four drain holes underneath the car beneath each corner roof pillar.

Ok so if I drill out the front drain hole and feed in a little copper pipe, flare up the end and silicone it in.... is that the way to go? I dont want to seal up the front drain holes

I think that that is what Malcom was suggesting rather than blocking them up, but with fibreglass. Obviously a large bore pipe would be nice :)
Some vehicle even have rubber pipes for sunroof drainage.

Ah any info on dimensions approx would be really cool. I think I get the idea though, and fibreglass being used to hold the new tube(s) in place makes sense now. I suppose the microbore tubing used in central heating is the right way to go and I presume each length will be approx a metre long?

Nice one... I assume I get the headline out and unscrew the rails... how do I get at the rubber that joins onto the drain tube? Do I get at this from the inside of the car, removing the plastic bit over the pillar? Sorry to ask lots of questions...

If you remove the front part of the headlining (the plastic bit where the sun visors are) you can access the drain pipe, and won't need to drill anything out.

more likely to be the drain holes at the bonnet hinges or under the battery tray...

Its difficult to track without removing all the trim and having someone go around the car with a hose until you can identify exactly where its coming from..

The OP said that water is coming from the A-pillar - almost certainly the sunroof drain I would think.
