HI, I have recently got a 2003 Mercedes C220 CdI Coupe A.In very good shape except for a water drip coming from the area of the hood release.Annoying to say the least, just had a full valet done carpets the lot, lovely spotless.Cup full of water or there about under accelerator after rain overnight.Looks like a lift job in the garage I suppose.

As I'm currently finding out to my annoyance I've a leak in the boot of my SL350. I've done a bit of research for fixing my car and perhaps just your seals need cleaning and re-proofing with the product below

or you can buy the correct stuff from mercedes however it's about £45 for a small bottle.

No problem. If you can stretch to the £45 for the official Mercedes stuff go for it. It's apparently like magic reading reviews on here. With the gummi stuff you apparently will have to do it a couple of times a year but will still do the same job.

I cannot stand sneaky leaks, mine is coming from under the main fuse box,or the outside rubber seal on the hood release on to the carpet, not that easy to see ,anyway help appreciated.Probably will have to go to a garage that would be interested.

The leak by the bonnet release has been discussed on here previously.

@Uncle Benz has posted a few times IIRC

It’s almost certainly the bellows seal on the bonnet release cable. It’s astonishing how much water can get in through it!

I can see it at a distance behind the fuse box,it does not seem to perished as far as I can tell, will a sealer around the rubber bellows do the job? Thanks.

They can look ok until you stretch the rubber out a bit. They split in the lowest root of each flute

You could try, you have nothing to lose. The rubber bellows only comes with a complete new cable. It isn’t as difficult to replace as you might think though

I used silicon sealant. I put about a foot of clear plastic tubing on the end of the nozzle so it would reach. I gave it half a canister all around where it goes through the bulkhead. Gone from loads of water entering to zero (Oh No jinxed it :(:(:().
I did clear my drains at the same time, so it could have been that causing the problem. Strange thing was it went from totally dry to a good couple of mugfuls of water in the footwell overnight, with no dripping at first.

Maybe take the lid off the fusebox and check it’s dry in there if you haven’t already

Great stuff! Sometimes they get condensation inside the lid if water has been getting into the car
