Every litre of fuel burnt produces an almost equivalent amount of water. Most disappears in the form of steam/vapour but, as Blobcat said, when the exhaust is cold, it re-condenses into water. Longer runs then heat up the exhaust and vaporise it. Remember how exhausts used to corrode and rust out before stainless steel was used? Acidic water in system from cold running. Exhausts in taxis lasted for ages because they stayed hot.
