I have a C207 E class.

Obviously a Coupe and has panoramic sunroof.

Passenger side rear footwell is several inches deep in water and I need some ideas of where to start looking for the point of entry.

Any thoughts?

Check the drains in the plastic scuttle below the wipers are clear. If blocked they will overflow into the footwell. There should be a drain hole either side and one in the centre.
Run some water into the drains and watch for it coming out under the car under each front wheel arch.
You may be able to push a thin wire down the hole to clear out any blockage.

Edit. Just re read your post and see its the rear footwell. The above may not apply but worth checking.

I checked scuttle drains a few months ago. I will check again in the morning.
I suspect sunroof personally, but I'm hoping someone has had same issue and can tell me what cured theres.
Just looking for pointers.
Getting to the stage of time to sell I think. Want to put the issue right and then sell it I think.
Can't find anything obvious at first look.
Been coming in for a while though, very mouldy under passenger seat.

Open the sunroof and clean all around the insides and polish it so the water can’t sit around - then check the sunroof drains are draining
Thank you.
That's this morning's mission.

Terrible. Quality car can't keep water out and also design beyond stupid that blocked drain default is fill car with water. Where another ijut places the electronics!!
Sensible default is blocked drain goes to secondary out of car drain. Actually I am surprised there is no sensor and visit workshop warning. It does make one wonder where do they find these "designers"

Sunroof drains ok. Rear drains alongside rear glass roof and down into the boot rebate and drains down the boot gutter.
Front drains into same drain as scuttle and comes out same place in wheel arch.
Stumped now. Car is wet through in nearside rear footwell. Pulled 4 litres of water out and it's still soaking wet through.
This not a high mileage, unloved car. 75k and serviced by Mercedes every year with only a few thousand miles between services. Even the sunroof service carried out.
Ridiculous situation.

Have a look under the base of the rear doors when they are open , are the drain holes blocked ?

No rear doors. It's a Coupe.
I'll check the drain holes in those though now you mention it.
Thanks

Rear windows sometimes leak, or at least they did on the 70s BL cars I have owned, usually the water runs down the parcel shelf and rots out the rear seats, it's got to be worth a look. One of our allegros had so much water in the footwell, you had to wear wellies.

Check the A pillar on the passenger side (but also the drivers side, just in case)

Use a trim tool to get in there (careful around the airbag!) And then put some kitchen or blu roll in there.
Check if it comes out wet - it shouldn't

That should rule in a roof leak, or out, before you go mad on it. Simple test

The windscreen scuttle panel is the traditional place for water getting in on all cars though, even the drivers side and it runs across just to confuse you

Seems like a lot of water, I have found leaky boot seals, rear lights and rear screens seem favourite after sunroof.

Put small child or camera phone in car and get hose on it.

Small child may not be acceptable in some towns but we have a ready supply up north now the pits are closed.

I cannot find the point of ingress.
The carpet is only wet in the footwell.
Headlining is dry and short of taking the seats and carpet out, I am stumped.
It's ruined the car for me.

So frustrating this. Car has been parked for 2 weeks unused.
Footwell full of water again. Mat was floating.
Got most of it out and sat inside with hosepipe on car and no water ingress. Really can't get my head around it at all.
Bought a replacement car now and the Merc is going. Such a shame. Lovely car and with the remap it's seriously potent. Very few around with the spec this has got. Didn't think a pond was on the options list though.

You’re not on your own BMW have the same problem with the 4 series convertible the rear windows bottom rubbers allow water into the rear box section and the drain plug can block up causing water to backfill into the rear foot compartment. The video shows the remedy which dealing with is a blocked drain under the side skirt

Found a video for draining the W207
