Hello, my water pump has just gone on my v230 trend auto I have ordered a new one and asked the local garage if they can fit it. They said that they might have to remove the engine to fit it ?
Has anyone else had this job done and if so I would like to here your advice.
Many thanks

Hi Barrie thanks for the query
I spent the day at the garage today, we had to drop the engine to remove the water pump awful job hope it doesn't happen to anyone else. I have had nothing but trouble with this V class for the last year to many expensive faults.

try this

i replaced my water pump outside my house. it is true that the retaining bolts ate about 20mm to long and hit the side of the engine bay befor you can take them out. however a large bar will shift the engine just enough to get them out. cant remember if i had to loosen the mounts but i did come out and the new one went in.

but it turned out the annoying water pump bearing type rattle was not the water pump.

try replacing the bushes on the engine damper just above the pump first !
or just dissconect it and see if your rattle (if thats the symptom) first .

hope this helps..
