I like to keep my car looking good but after washing I’m getting fed up with dust spoiling the look, I’ve just ordered some waterless wash even though I don’t understand the idea of pushing around dust particles across the paintwork.
Anyone got any views?

My thinking too, I always wash it and dry it. Don’t use a lot of shampoo / water but enough to lift the dirt off with a sheepskin mitt.. this dust , pollen is a pita atm and having dark cars doesn’t help…

Maybe if you at least hosed the car down to get most stuff off the car first , you will limit any damage

Yes we had loads of it, off ideal world ,,,or from one of those tv programs .Fantastic but i will only use it on a dust free car . Only use micro cloth to put it on, and another one to remove it. The make i had was Williams Waterless Wash and Wax . Fantastic shine ,you cam use it on everything including the glass ,buy excluding front screen .Paint work comes up nice Plastic shines like new also the tyres and alloys but you let it sit longer on the alloy wheels .To polish a whole car it takes 1/2 the time .

I use the dew on the car early am. So long it was already clean!
Then I run some aqua wax at same time as taking the dew off.

Power Maxed quick detailer I find good if car is not very dirty. Works in sun or not, can see it sucking up dirt, works on windows, trim, bodywork, rear lights, mirrors. I just avoid headlamps (they've been ceramic sealed), windscreen, wheels & tyres. Good shine too. 30 to 40 minutes whole car.

I totally agree quick squirt over but still not sure, even with micro fibre cloth bits of grit, sand and even bird mess could scratch. I’m going to go very careful and I’ll keep you posted in case anyone is interested.

Maybe a snow foam and jet wash first ? But then you are moving into “it’s quicker just to wash it” territory.
As long as the car isn’t a dark colour you might get away with it .

Tenorite grey so quite dark, wanted to get away from proper washing 3 times a week just because it’s dusty guess I’ll just have to live with a dull car and wash it once a week

If it's a clean, well polished car, especially during this dry spell and it's only dusty, try a California duster, they are great.:)

Don't do it is my advice unless the car is totally dust free (defeats your object really). The paintwork will swirl to beggary and you'll wish you hadn't! Those shopping channel adverts misled by showing how shiny the panel was after treatment but not the huge damage caused to the surface of the paint. I do use this stuff but only for spraying bird crap and gently dabbing off. Also for bug removal off the front end after a long journey. I looked in Halfords for a California duster at the weekend but no joy but I'm going to get one and try it on a localised panel since I also live in a very dusty area. Have you thought of a good quality car cover?

Those dusters are on eBay if you have trouble locally

Seems to me that until 15-20 years ago, cars came with better paintwork which withstood more than modern cars and in these recent years drivers got obsessed about swirl marks, hologram effects etc on their cars' bodywork. Clean & shiny should be good enough. Not heard of "california duster" nor that Autoglym synthetic leather but I still use my trusted Nénette. Will investigate that Autoglym leather.

Just tried the waterless spray rubbish! Don’t bother, going to stick with washing once a week, every couple of weeks Meguiars Quik Wax and Autoglym Super Resin every 3 months.
Thanks for all your advice.

Thats good - Autoglym Super Resin ,,i know this polish i used nothing but back then in the 80s . With its fantastic shine that last a few days then back to normal , the one that deposits white powder in all the nooks and crannys .

I think they must have changed the recipe because no white powder now and it’s easy on and off
