Today, for the first time ever, I used wax on my car :)

Collonite 915.

First washed it then a quick squirt of Ultimate detailer and then the wax.

Must say I was pleasantly surprised how easily it went on, used a damp sponge. Even more surprised how quicklly it was ready to be buffed off. No real effort required, a bit of dust but a wonderful smooth finish and a good shine.

Not hugely different to my usual treatment using Mer.

The window trims and roof rails came up really well!

Last time I used a wax I was 14 and was helping my dad polish with Simoniz. That was hard work!

I do like the Collonite. May get up early tomorrow and have a go, if the weathers nice.

I think I will clay first next time. Just for that extra smooth finish :)

Collinite goes off really quickly. It would be impossible in direct sunlight. I hope it still looks good in strong daylight...

It has rained here!

The car is covered with a myriad of tiny droplets. I hope it dries without spotting

Interesting to see if it spots, the Mcquires that I use does not.

Weather forecast, fine SAT and Sunday till late afternoon, then rain working down from the north

When I just used Meguire's Ultimate last time it was fine but the drops were much larger!

The car was clean so it shouldn't be a problem, rain water isn't 'hard'...

Collonite is wonderful I always use collotinte sealent. Wash it then clay.A coat of autoglym super resin polish, maguires wax then finally collonite to finish and a wonderful job. Good thing is you next time you wash it will come out as if it's been polished. Well worth the effort

I use Maguiers speed detailer and cannot say enough about this lil gem. Its sooo easy to use and gives such a brilliant finish. Mind you i dont ever let my car get dirty anyway(too obsessed with clean car i guess).

I usually use spong to clean any main dirt from the car and then use autoglym synthetic leather to clean it, then go over it with Speed Detailer. All in All it takes me 30 mins to do the whole call and i am left with a very clean and smooth looking paint which has very deep shine to it.

Only just been to Halfords today and saw all the cleaning products on buy 2 get 1 free so guess what i stocked up on. LOL

I think Malcolm was referring to Spray Wax.

Why didn't I do this sooner??

Waxing the car that is....

Just washed the car after another week and 300mls (this time with rain!)

Usual hosed off, then wash using brush attached to hose. Bugs, grime just floated away!

Used a waffle cloth to dry, fantastic! Wont use a chammy again. No effort required, water was simply soaked up instantly. No smears, nothing.

Paintwork left clean, spot free and glossy

All in about half the usual time

I have just been to Halfords for the 3 for 2 offer and walked away with mer, turtle wax super nano tech shampoo and some turtle tyre gel. Just wondering if I could have done better than that? I go for the mer as you can apply it in the sun! The only time I feel like getting the polish out!

I would go for Maguire's tyre shine rather than turtle. It last for ages and dnt need to use too much of it. also their Speed detailer or spray wax. I dnt really do Shampoo but still get good result.

After you bought the maguire's Tyre gel, get yourself a small paint brush and go over the tyre with the brush once sprayed.

You will not be disappointed.

LOL :lol::rolleyes:

The cloth I used had raised squares, was of cotton and absorbed water very well... Was advertised as for drying paintwork and does just that, dried the whole car without having to wring out :D
