Hi There,

Might be a lil anxious but I used the WD-40 spray all over my engine bay. Then brushed it off and wiped clean with a rag. After which I read somewhere that you should avoid using it on electrical stuff!
Is this true? Anything I can do, to make sure that I have not caused any damage?

I have used WD40 to, cleans up the engine nicely, plastic makes the Plastics look great.
Never heard that it shouldn't be used on electrics though??

WD40 is non-conductive.
However, what I does to wiring harnesses I don't know.
I do know it shouldn't be used on electrical contacts as it leaves a film that is non-conductive.

The only issue with WD40 is on open electrical connectors. The silicone seal used to make the connector waterproof can swell preventing the connector being able to be reconnected.
If connectors are closed there is no issue.

I leave my cars 4, 3 months at a time. I spray wd40 everywhere it does 2 things, ****es of the mice and stops corrosion. When I get back I run them up and blast it off with press washer, stayin away from foam and bonnet lining. Result eng Bay still looks new at 20 Yr..

And following your excellent advice I do something very similar. Only thing is I don't wash it off and just leave it.

there's some type of rubber seals that get a bit bigger but its rare and if in place they'd never know or care - contrary to bad - I gather its actually very good at keeping mice and squirrels from eating the electrics under the bonnet

I have sprayed that stuff on every vehicle I have touched for 45 years - its almost impossible to damage things using it

if you want to make things better and look like new ACF-50 is incredible - but so its its price

GT85 is rubbish last less than a week - but for 2 days it does look better than wd40

Grand. It's cheapest under bonnet maintainance I ever used. I wash off as I find it makes car pong a bit for a few days. And I normally only home 2cweeks at time.

Well after 40 years it never been a problem with my cars . If any one remembers when this WD40 came out first , a test was used and shown on TV where the War Depot sprayed a Mini Moke engine and drove in to a river and out the other side and it was still running after this was done .
