2003 R230 SL55.... Had the consumer electrics off line message as the boot battery was really low... However after abit of driving, the message disappeared and I had welcome lights inside the car in the footwells, and also the sidelights and foglights would come on when I opened the car and when I turn off the engine...

After a few days the cars consumers all went off again so I decided to charge up the consumer battery... It is now at 90% and I've not had the consumer offline message, but the welcome lights in the footwells or the external ones do not work at all...

Ive also noticed I have lights in the bottom of the doors with wiring attached but I've never seen them on... Bulbs look OK so..

Any ideas here??? Thanks

Charge the battery or get a new one. MB are very fussy on battery condition.
The car will start with poor battery but some times with no indicators no speedo etc
Start the car, run it for a few minutes, switch off and remove the key and re-start.
Usually every thing works as a temporary fix

Charge the battery over the weekend, a 90% battery is 10% low - 1.26v too low - 10.74v......

Mercs shut off consumers to preserve battery.

If battery voltage is under 12.4v after being charged fully and left overnight change the battery.
I have found that there seems to be a priority to consumers that will work when battery voltage is low and one of the first things not to work are nonessential lights.

So currently I have all interior lights working now - the footwell lights and door puddle lights are working along with the dome.... But I still don't have the external welcome lights coming on...

Mine is a 2003 SL.... Can't see that option in the dash settings.. They were working the other day before I disconnected the battery to charge it up
