Wet feet

In my car today i found the front and rear nearside footwells to be soaking wet, when i pressed my hand on the carpet the water nearly covered my hand:(

I've taken the front seat out along with the carpet and have got rid of the water, now i'm trying to find out how it got there, last time i was under the car i couldn't see any obvious signs of any holes etc

The door/window seals are all good

The sunroof had a bad seal which i fixed last week but was definatly not leaking into the cabin, is there a chance water could leak down the side pillars onto the floor from the sunroof?

Any pointers would be great

My car is a 500SEC

Thanks

The heater box is a good place for the water to come in as merc 25245 says.

A piece of flexible wire works well

As Merc25245 says, the scuttle drains are almost certainly blocked.

A straightened out coat hanger is often the easiest way to reach the offending leaves. Remove the debris if poss, but at least force open the rubbers at both ends of the bulkhead, and flush clear with a hosepipe.

I've had this with a few cars, and found that if regularly parked under a tree, it is often worth removing the rubbers completely.

Right, this leaking business.

I took the scuttle panel off, it was really clean and pretty dry, i poured water down the drain pipes on either side of the car and it came straight out and onto the floor, GOOD.

I opened the sunroof and stood up through it, after pretending i was in an army tank i poured water down the sunroof drain pipes and again the water came straight out, GOOD.

There is a lot of rust inside the front of the sunroof that covers the whole width. So much in fact that the rubber seal won't stay fitted and keeps hanging down. BAD

Someone said in a previous post that the sunroof seal is to keep out wind only and not water. Is this true? i can't find the post to quote it.

Anyway i don't know if the rust is blocking the water from traveling to the drains or if the rust is diverting the water elsewere into the cabin.

Are replacement sunroof parts expensive?

As you probably can imagine this problem is a right f*%$ing pain in the ****

Again the car is a 500 SEC

Any help is much appreciated

After watering the roof with a hose pipe, i thought water was coming through some part of the sunroof, so i started watering the roof section between the windscreen and sunroof (avoiding watering the sunroof) and found the water to be leaking through a bad seal at the top of the windscreen aswell.

I shall be sealing the hell out of it tonight!

Do not try and seal it in the damp or wet, it wont work, wait till it is warm again if ever
