E Class estate (2014) luggage load cover is wet. Would've expected a leak from windows to miss the edges of the shelf??
Anyone had similar?

Might be the antenna seal leaking or if you you have a pan roof it could be one of the seals or drains. Sorry to hear your problems are continuing

The photo was sent by the Mrs from the supermarket.
Shes back now. Rear of roof lining is soaked.
On the plus side the tailgate is still opening fine!!
Waiting for breakdown to come and have a look

Mobilo been out (fancy RAC!!). Marshall Mercedes had put the boot seal on wrong when it was in last time he thinks.
Seal tucked under the strip covering the metal rather than over it.
Absolute clowns.
Fingers crossed all sorted now.

Slight leak today after I drowned with the hose!
Took seal off from round the boot and there is a putty type material in blobs here and there.
One bit was in the seal where it went over the metal.
Could that cause a leak? My logic is if the seal is not tight on the inside then water would run through the gap and capillary action would run it over and underneath and in to the roof lining.
However, my logic is never good!!

You could try sprinkling some talculm powder around where you think it's coming is and looking for tracks in the talc?

I can see where its entering the car from. Seal is not great according to the tech. Just found a hole in it on the edge of the opposite side so could be getting in and running down.
Had so many issues with the tailgate the seal has probably been removed too many times.
I'll order a new one and see if that helps.

Had a thought before I buy a seal. Probably nonsense!

Given that there has been copious amounts of oil running down the inside of the boot due to hinges being dry is it possible that oil has got under the seal meaning it is less likely to 'seal' and therefore allow water to run under and over?
TIA

Post a pic of the seal and the hole you speak off. Some Rubber seals have holes to allow the air trapped in the seal to escape, but these are generally on the inner side so that water cannot get in to them.
When fitting a seal you have to make sure that it is fitted exactly as it came off.
Take off the old rubber seal, clean the rubber and the metal edge where it is fitted. Use a sealing paste that does not harden and smear some all along the metal edge, refit the seal from the top edge down, ensure the seal is pushed fully home over the metal edge, use a rubber mallet to tap it into place, making sure corners are also pushed fully home.
If you end up with too much rubber, or a hump in the rubber and nowhere to put it...just lift the bit already fitted, opposite where you are fitting, whilst continuing around the opening, and tap it down until you have lost the slack.

This one looks like a good bet to use...or ask at your local bodyshop what they use for sealing, trim, door seals.

Thank you.
Took it to a local repairer today but he was unsure how it came off. Thought it may be screwed on from inside the car, under the headlining.
May not be the cause but water is at the highest point of the boot, which is then getting headlining and running down.
So we need to know how to get it off. Merc part as I can see is simply a cover but is stuck solid.
