Peculiar? Honest it appears to me. The seller lists the faults and notes its good points.
That could be cheap motoring until the MOT expires next August, then scrap it and get half your money back.

I couldn't take this advert seriously once I had read the following line...

"The instrument cluster has been replaced by an idiot and it is from a European car, shows KM/h and Kms on the clock, what is above 320.000km"

What an absolute plonker, dipstick :D

Ever thought it may have been owned by an Eastern European over here? Maybe a Pole who repaired the car with a Polish speedo and preferred to read the speed in KPH?

Why would anyone driving in this country want to use KPH though, all the signs are in MPH for speed and miles for distance?

If I went to a country that uses KPH I'd want a speedo to show KPH even though I'm used to MPH here are Polish likely to be different?

Maybe it was cheaper to find a second hand part. maybe the car has been round south europe for a few years (so will have less rust). who cares. i´ve been driving a car with mph around here (everything in kms) for 3 years. after a week you get used to it. if you really can´t get used to it just put some stickers over the old numbers! on balance surely you´d be better off with this than the famously non functioning s280?

I would absolutely love to buy a car advertised like that. this is a particularly bad but not untypical advert over here:

http://www.milanuncios.com/mercedes.../mercedes-benz-300-e-automatico-129537588.htm

It translates to "300E automatic well cared for body and paintwork". wouldn´t want to tell me about the MOT, tax status, what works, what it has, what doesn´t or give me some kind of photos now? Sadly you also can´t assume that not mentioning means it´s not there. Usually when phoning they say "MOT? of course it does, it passed it last week", usually in a manner that insinuates i´m being overly meticulous and it´s a silly question!

This may sound daft but I still think in KM, I have my comand set to KM, they pass by quicker than miles, but OK there are more of them, I just love them :D

I still use feet and inches, I struggle with centimillimetres. Give me a pint, not 0.43287 litres, thankyou.

By your two posts so far, at least we can see your Budget. W202 has to be the way to go.

He does say he visits Europe very often....makes sense to me. :)
I think it'd look nice with a Jurassic Park sticker on the side.....

I don't know how important your privacy is to you, but hopefully you realise that, you're advertising your post code (and budget) in an open forum ...
If this is unintended, then perhaps it's not a bad idea to edit the links you've posted.

It would have had a square rear number plate & boot lid suitable for the square plate if it'd been a Jap import

The lid could have been changed.

There is only the one boot lid made.
