We all love our cars and that`s why we bought them and lots of us say how good they are and praise the good things. But what about the annoying little things that really pig you off ?

Mine is the way that when it`s raining and I have the window open slightly, the rain drips off the end of the soft top, right onto all the window switches on the door

What about the rest of you guys ??

My car annoys me only because it lives in a country with a silly speed limit and too many cameras :)

On the previous W210 the only thing that annoyed me was the gap between the sunvisor and the A pillar. I would invariably get the sun right in that gap. Small gripe mind :)

The new one is just too clever for its own good. I went through all the fueses to try and work out why the interior lights wouldn't come on when opening the door. I realised eventually that they didn't come on as it was light outside D'oh.

My W140 CL500 nothing!!!!!!!!
The wifes SLK doors dont self close, the seat belts dont greet me, I have to keep pressing the B****y key fob to unlock passenger door and boot, washer bootle light is always on even when full. Steerings crap, brakes are crap, gearbox changes are completely wrong so it makes a good driver drive like a retard. Seats are hard and I get a numb ass on lonf drives, drivers door doesnt close properly, rust, lots of rust.
other than that not much.

No insult intended to retards, I live in the fens and retards are a common thing, as are 6 toes and webbed feet.

No insult intented to people with webbed feet or have 6 toes.

Good swimmers though.

Do I get banned now.?

Hello,

Both the A class and the M class, if I want to pick a friend up having to press the un lock button..and remembering where it is in each car.

Ok a small thing but annoying

Headlight and sidelight bulbs seem to be blowing all too frequently on my W210 E240 estate but is that because I use Halfords'? Access to replace them is a bit tricky when you're trying hard not to touch the bulb like they say you shouldn't.

I'm looking forward to my next change to get away from the multi-function left-hand 'stalk' that does the indicators and wipers/washers which is so close to the cruise control. Does the W211 have a separate indicator stalk on the right-side of the steering column like most other cars?

The E240 does not really have enough power for the big estate body and takes a little bit too long to accelerate on the move, even when down-shifting manually.

But the positives far outweigh the negatives and I really had to think hard about these. (I won't include the rust issue as no doubt it will score highly with many people).

The 211 has the same single stalk layout as the 210

Thanks Blobcat - what a pity? I'll just have to put up with it then when I change.

I can't really fault the car and it is a pleasure to drive, certainly a worthy successor to the 124 (except for rust).

The only thing I miss from my lower specced 124 is the small sunvisor that sat just above the rear view mirror, nice touch that, it really made you feel that attention to detail was what you were paying for.

Hi

Just been looking through some of the previous topics covered on this forum and was encouraged to send through a couple of my own questions to see if anyone can help!

I bought my second MB at the end of last year, having sold my first one (1996 SL320) a short time before that. I loved that car, and still do. Anyway.... circumstances dictated that I bought myself a more modest MB and spend the rest of the cash on a boring Lexus IS for the wife. I plumped for the 1989 300CE - a good looking car with all the modern comforts i needed but at a reasonable price. I really enjoy owning and driving it but it does have a couple of idiosyncracies that either add or detract to the pleasure, depending on my mood! What follows is a summary - any advice would be gratefully received:

1 - when i bought it i was promised the service history and manual. I have all MOT certificates and it's HPi'd, but despite chasing the seller he has 'not managed to find it yet'. Does anyone know how, and how easy, it would be to purchase another user manual for a 1989 300CE?? I have questions that I can't answer without a manual, things like identifiying the warning lights in the dash. I can guess, but would rather know for sure!

2 - Sometimes, and I can't work out a theme or link, when i unlock the car via the driver's door the petrol cap does not release or unlock and makes a hissing noise. Thanks to this forum i now know i can probably manually release it, but does anyone know an official cause/solution? It's not consistent, and i dont really know how i get it released, beyond lots of locking and unlocking of the drivers door and waggling of the (locked) petrol cap

3 - oil pressure is low once the engine is warm and the car is not moving. it sits on the '0' reading but then goes right back up to 3 under acceleration. occasionally there is a discernable shudder through the car when sat in traffic (in drive, not moving) but in park the pressure rises to around 1. any ideas?!

I should really leave it there for now..i have more questions but dont want to; (a) bore people to death (b) take the p*ss by asking too many questions or (c) appear completely thick. or all of the above. as you can tell, i'm not a techie

one other thing to point out is that it's just been mot'd and passed without anything of note. and a mechanic i know fairly well (and therefore almost trust) has given it the once over and said all is well. it's covered 70,000 miles.

thanks in advance for your help

cheers

I am not impressed that on the w124 the seats go saggy and wea near the driver side bolster. Audis of the same age and vintage don't do that...

I thought you could turn that feature off? Can't remember how though.

been sat here thinking - can't think of a thing!
All the niggles I had with my 240 are fixed in the 270. Even the drown the wife wipers are resolved.
errr - ok - the cost of the bluetooth cradle so I can't change my phone and the fact that I can't just plug in a command and that 1 switch blank.
So, nothing really!

i dont like the way my 202 drives when cold..it holds onto 1st and 2nd gear until the cat has warmed up which makes the drive very harsh

My C180 (06 reg) Nothing, fabulous car and although petrol it is doing 40 to the gallon.I love it. Even the seats are comfortable. My previous C class seats made your eyes water after about 40 mins of driving.
Wifes A170 (new) Suspension abysmal, anything but a good road surface leads to muscularskeletal trauma, it hops ,bangs, rattles and rolls. I hate to think what it would be like on French pave`. Windsceen wiper leaves an unswept area of 65mm adjoining the `A' frame, it must be debatable if it complies with EEC visibility regulations. Variable weighted steering has to be watched, doing a slow turn by feel you may find yourself heading for the kerb. Petrol consumption worse than the `C' class. Get your own back -buy your wife one.

Only two things about my W124. Why doesn't the unlock key ever work the first time I squeeze but always the second. And why isn't the cold heater air ever cold, unless the A/C is on. But the, like me, it's old and if that's all I've got to complain ablout........................................;
