Sorry but I'm being a bit MB thick again. My starting has become a bit sluggish and the starter battery (the actual under bonnet one) looks original, so just looking about to get a feel for costs IF it need changing etc. The code A230 541 00 1 on a search syas its a £200 battery but yets its just a 35Ah / 520A EN rating which although a bit odd isn't spectacular in battery world..... So is this a rare MB design ???

MB don't make batteries so it'll be a standard size.
Measure the physical dimensions and check on the Tayna website.

It's the SL starter battery, which is an odd size. I am yet to figure out of its shared with everything else, but its very wide and short.

Euro's do a LION equivalent for less money.

Yes I know MB don't make them but they could spec them for manufacture, the code seems to relate only to Varta which no surprise is also on the battery label, its looking like an oddball at present. Ho hum...
