Fault on the auxiliary battery in the v-class, but what does the auxiliary battery do?

They all seem to have different references to these. Consumer battery, auxiliary battery, second battery, boot battery, starter battery, main battery, good battery, MB battery, or even flat battery, its no wonder I get confused.
If you are asking about the main battery it supplies the electrics to the internal switches and everything you need to play with electrical devices.
The starter battery is for cranking the engine over and is usually for Mercedes with 2 batteries.
