Mercedes E220CDI W212 Facelift
Hello everyone and happy new year!
Can someone help me how can I recognise what gearbox does my car? I have started coding on vediamo and some of my friends are asking me to code for them too. Im not sure but i think my w212 facelift e220 2013 has the 7g+ because of the eco button. But how can I recognise if a car has the 7g or 7g+ ? If anyone has any experience with coding agility and manual mods on some older models too, I will like some help.

I've done the same as you, but I still can't work out if mine's a 7G or 7G+ The code is 722906 04 302635 I'm prity sure it's 7G+ but I can't get a definitive answer on here. :(

There is a list, but its in EPC and tied to the vin so cannot be distributed online.

as a rue of thumb, anything that asks for 236.15 spec fluid is plus

Tried the oil spec rout to no avail some say 236.15 or 236.16 Never thought I'd have so much trouble trying to find out which box is in a car. Some have said if it's got stop start it will be 7G+ Others have said that with stop start it still could be 7G I think my best bet now is to ask the Indy that serviced the box which oil he put in:confused:

722906 is 7G-Tronic not a 7G+. Part number A171 270 53 00

Thanks in advance.

7g+ has changes for better fuel efficiency, it can lockup the torque converter 100% and uses thinner atf. It also includes stop start in most non amg models.

Iv'e had my gearbox serviced at a well known and respected Indy. They charged me £180.00 for a gearbox drain new filter and oil, not a flush they said it didn't need it. Reading on a different forum the general feeling is that they should ave done a flush. At the time the car had done 33k. What is your view on this.

Regards.

MB wouldn't flush the box as part of the oil service.

We usually do, including draining the torque converter, unless the customer wants to save some money.

If you go based on what MB say/do then just a drain and refill is appropriate, but it does leave 3+ liters in the rest of the system.

That price is not bad though, ours is more (but then has more oil as well)

Thank You. Based on the mileage of the car and that I only do between 4 to 5k a year when would you recommend another change.

2013 E250 M274
Hello. Very useful thread. The VIN decoder said that my transmission is "722995 05 000970". The service booklet says that the E-class M274 (which is what I have) needs the transmission oil changed in "NAG2-FE+ or NAG3" transmissions. Unfortunately the decoder does not say NAG; is mine one of those two? And what is the correct fluid?

Thanks!
