Took the CLK out for a nice roof down drive to the Essex coast , Mrs Wighty also enjoyed the trip .
MOT next week for the old girl (the car ) , so pre MOT thoughts of failure are now beginning !

View attachment 49607 As I was on a roll , I gave the engine a quick spritz with some all purpose cleaner and a hose down . Found a can of engine detailing spray that's 20 years old and squirted some of that over it as well . It's by no means a good job , but it got the dust off .
After a 15 mile drive before the clean , there was no visible leaking around the new fuel filter .
Left the bonnet up for the engine to dry in the sun and wind .
Everyone loves an engine shot , especially this beautiful V6 (I know it's not a V8 !)

I cover the oil filler cap with a microfibre cloth , the battery is in the boot so that is safe . Because the water was low pressure fine mist I just sprayed everything

Indeed it is. A lovely free revving burbly quad camshaft 32v with variable valve timing (and it's 26 years old).

Very like an American V8 till you floor it at which point it roars. Very different to the M113 in our r230.

So far as I can tell, all wives think their husbands are mad. It's not conditional on cleaning your car in the rain.
