Fitted the towbar and fridge to my W222.... just need to sort the wiring out now as the labels on the towbar loom bear no resemblance to the fuse locations within the rear fusebox!! Mrs Wighty now wants a fridge in the car after me telling her

Well that looks like fun. Last night hidden in one of SWMBO conversations was a brief mention of a caravan and a towbar for my CLS..... So looking at how difficult rear bumper removal actually is....
One thing I came across was a mention I may need to get towbar wiring coded in to the car?

Any thoughts on that?

Yes, it does need coding into the car in order to work correctly. I fitted the MB towbar to my previous W221 S Class and that was not quite as complicated as it used a cable release rather than electrical... but still needed coding in order to flag up any trailer electrical issues on the dash

Having rescued the 129 from hibernation the roof decided it wouldn't operate :(
Spent an hour with a multimeter checking switches and found the passenger side roof cover latch was a little sticky (seems a bit worn too so something else to look into). Copious WD40 to free up then lube with spray grease and it burst back into life.
It's just too hot to go anywhere!

Plenty of 129 parts around though A?

my update: notified that repair work is complete on the 215 (yay!) and should be ready for collection next week following MOT retest.

Just the big scratch to get repaired- luckily there are several local Chips Away types here now with good reputations.

Then it’s service time for both beasts, including ABC fluid change on the 215 too!

How can the 215 need a fluid change after all that work?!!!

Surely if you have had struts replaced then a fluid change at the same time is required.

Thanks for that. Need to factor that in then. Just searching for the most reasonable price for a tow hitch on my CLS 63 AMG.....

You may need to speak to MB about a suitable towbar... I know that certainly on the S Class models, the AMG ones were very difficult, if not impossible to source a towbar for

That’s because anyone with an S class AMG is staying in a hotel :D and doesn’t need a tow bar

The first time I ever drove an S Class, was a LHD 2006 model in France in 2006. It was a hire car as my Cosworth Scorpio had broken down and we were going camping... so we rolled up to a campsite in Biarritz in a brand new, LWB, 90,000 euro Mercedes.... and it rained for most of the holiday....

Oh the joys :)
