Added another mod to my 2016 S Class....

My car had an ashtray.... I don't smoke, so the little drawer the ashtray sits in, is of no use to me, and was wasted space.

I had an idea and bought an ashtray off ebay that didn't have the lighter, but was just a storage space. Add to that a wireless charger pad off Amazon and a USB-C lighter adapter, a hot melt glue gun and voila.... a use for the drawer as a wireless charging station!!

Blew a load of 15A fuses today by removing the USB adaptor that has been in the rear rubbish tray to the 4 gang cigarette lighter socket the previous owner had fitted under the dash. Instantly the seedy blue LED's in the 4 gang socket went out so I tried the front ashtray, then the load space. The darned adaptor had broken and shorted out when I removed it from the rear!

A new auxilliary battery is on order as the old one is dated week 14 2004. Still waiting for the rear air springs to arrive, they're in the country now with the latest iteration of Hermes.

I discovered the secret dashboard menu today as I'm bored and trawling tinternet due to being off work with Campylobacter. I also sneaked in to work and collected my compressor repair kit and Arnott rear air springs as I feel well enough to fit them. I moved the car Thursday during the epic fuse blowing saga, prior to that the rear had been sat on the bump stops for over a week and the darned thing was still pumped up this morning! Thankfully I could hear hissing from the r/h side on returning. That side will be on the receiving end of an engineering post mortem once removed.

Back from another Sussex coast road trip. During my stay I had to check the car every day to make sure that the local seagulls had not left deposits and when they had wash it off before the sun baked it in. It was a great holiday so it was worth the effort.

A brace of Arnott air springs finally fitted to my S211 today whilst playing "Mad dogs and Englishmen go out in the midday sun". If I still have Covid tomorrow morning I will be fitting "Bagpipingandy's" compressor repair kit. Currently trying to sus out the drivers door mirror wiring colour codes as a non dimming mirror is fitted and not wired in and that is the only fault code outstanding. (This week!)

Took it for the airbag recall. It was an 'interesting' morning.
Arrived 15 minutes early so booked it in with service and went to the lounge to wait. Very pleasant area with free coffee delivered to your table on request (decent stuff too).
Around 30 minutes later was informed it was all done and the key was returned. I testing I thought as I went out to the car, it's still in the same place. Inside looked no different either so shrugged and thought oh well, they must have done it in the carpark (it's only the drivers airbag after all).
Drove home and had a message from the dealer. "Sorry but it's not done, can you bring it back?"
So back I go (1 hour+ 40 mile round trip).
Very apologetic service receptionist took the key from me and they took it straight into the workshop.
40 minutes later key returned and on inspection this time the car was in a different place and it had a new airbag cover and steering wheel switches.
Tried for a free umbrella but they weren't having it and would only offer a free carwash if I wanted to bring it back. Well given the cost of fuel for the return trip is more than the local Albanians do it for (and they do a ****** good job too) that was as much use as a chocolate fireguard.

I'm becoming very disenchanted with MB Northampton I must say. Two recalls and they've cocked both up.
