Would Sir need some help pulling his cheeks apart for the bill ?
Ha ha , they tried that approach with my GLC rear discs n pads . £600 . Did them myself £133 . I'm wise to the ways of the mb KY jelly dispenser in the doorway

Picked mine after having all 4 wheels dipped and stripped and powered coated.
Minor scuffs and nicks now gone and the wheels, inside and out are as new. The insides were getting in a bad way

Also booked it in for front discs and pads with MBS as the discs are warping and were noted on the service a few weeks back (ouch)

They'll fit the wing mirror glass (made of Unobtainaium based on the price!) that collided with another car last week.

Gonna be around £1,200 spent in a week....(O.u.c.h!)

We see lots of them corroding up now. Big redd reman is very good. Would advise sending them there.

Thanks Alex, I've used these guys before, on more than 1 occasion ;)
A friend of mine was a formula one engineer who lives a mile from me, I'm going there shortly with the caliper.
My Missus went to Swaffham to pick up the caliper for me as I was too busy yesterday. She asked how big and heavy it was. Not very I said, it's alloy!! She went by bus. I wasn't flavour of the month when she arrived home with said 'very big heavy' caliper. So to make it up to her, I took her and her money to go and a buy another SL.......:D Needless to say, we didn't purchase it. :(

Booked the E convertible in for its MOT 10th May, a full 4 weeks before its due. Car 'noisy' on front end over humps (always negotiated with care) and poor roads so thought it better to allow for any parts time as need it for another trip to sunny Wales early June. Can't describe it really, not a 'knock' more an uncomfortable 'clunk' sound. Otherwise drives perfectly well. I've inspected and can't find anything obviously broken. No obvious leaks from shocks etc. This car has never failed an MOT but it is now 14 yrs old after all. We shall see..

Wash, clay, polish (autoglym srp), wax (bilt hamber double speed), protected wheels, treated rubber seals to a coat of 303 rubber conditioner.

Will do the inside windows and tyre dressing tomorrow.

Spent a couple of hours with the laptop on my other S211 getting to know the car a little more. Reset the memory drivers seat parameters, now have all the features working correctly. SBC needs bleeding correctly but not sure that will cure the fault. Now have an EGR fault, probably due to idling so much since I bought the car!

Got a red warning for low brake fluid and sure enough, it was very low. Topped up to the correct level and had a look for any obvious signs of a leak but no joy. I had 5 lines replaced last year, so I'm hoping its not another one leaking.
Wheels off tomorrow for a deep clean and a good look for any leaks.

Hopefully something or nothing Roger, possibly one of the new pipes wants nipping up a touch as a sealed system shouldn't be losing any...

Anyway, it's got to be sorted before Saturday hasn't it... :D

See you then.

Found the leak. It's the metal pipe from the flexi hose to the hydraulic unit on the o/s/f wheel.
Turned the wheel outwards and pressed on the pedal and fluid sprayed out.
Can't be repaired until next Tuesday
Looks like BOTG might have to be missed this year unless I can hijack the wife's Kia Rio and slink somewhere unnoticed at the George.
I'll know for certain Fri evening when the missus finally decides whether she needs her car or not:rolleyes:

Better get the underpanels off to check the front to back brake lines . Dirt can collect in there . Worth cleaning and spraying them with ACF50 or similar if you can’t find a leak elsewhere .

Gutted for you Roger, I've been looking forward to Saturday for ages now so know how you feel. Do you not have a friendly local garage who may be able to sort a temporary fix out?
