I'd have liked to put the roof down but Mrs LK has stolen the removable roof car this morning!

Drove to MB Northampton and got them to stamp a service book - forgot to do that back in March :)

Tested the new head unit for compatible [lossless] formats, and discovered it can play Apple protected m4a, with full info and album covers, etc. That means I can just copy parts of my iTunes library to a USB drive - no more converting to mp3, etc. Excellent!

Look forward to seeing your car again David - maybe when we meet for a Malcolm memorial GTG...?

Drove the 215 to South Wales and back for a long weekend camping in Ross-on-Wye. Achieved 27mpg on the way back which I was ridiculously pleased with!

Yes, I'm definitely coming.
Lets hope I can get the centre air vents done (hydrographics) before that.

Had the first service done on the B Class today. In "while you wait" the operative word is wait. Scheduled to take one hour, by appointment at the dealership's instigation, sadly the hour in question was not linked to the appointment time.

I still struggle to understand where one litre of screen wash fluid goes in a system which I keep topped up, or how a one year old car with 4,800 rural miles on it "might soon require new wiper blades". Is it just a coincidence that the dealership has a current promotion on wiper blades? Up selling has become an end in itself.

Quality assured systems may have bamboozled Joe Public once upon a time, but they are now generally understood and not only do they no longer provide a fig leaf for the provider, it is clear that the quality criteria are just not being achieved.

That's what I expected to happen today Alex, but whilst MB Liverpool didn't take the hour they said for the express service, actually it was an hour and ten minutes! That included the customary health check and video. I was pleasantly surprised I must say. I'm on a service plan so I didn't get to see any consumables invoice so I'm not sure on the screen wash

Sanded down the centre air vent fascia, in preparation for a hydrographic treatment*.
I hate the fake rubber coating on plastic parts!

It only ever looked cool for about a month in 1997, and the second something touches it, it's ruined and tacky.
But try to remove it completely, arrgghhh ...

* This will complete the centre console carbon fibre makeover. Not going to do any more interior parts (like side vents, etc) - I think it works best as it is now - pic to follow, once the centre vents are done.
