Drove it from Hampshire to Lynton in North Devon. One of the highlights was going up a totally clear Porlock Hill ;) otherwise a pretty average trip.

I can remember my Father reversing his Ford Eight up Porlock Hill because it wouldn’t go up frontwards with Mother and us three kids in it :)

Previous owners of mine were/are Preston based.

Probably coincidence then - the nearest ours has been to Preston (from old MOTs) is Widnes.

Leicester -> London -> Northampton -> Widnes -> Conwy -> Bangor -> Caernarfon over its 8 previous owners.

This morning got a strange whining noise from the upper right of the dash when starting (I had the brake pedal pressed) also that the warning lights were all really dim and the gauges were all reading low - temp, fuel, oil pressure and rev counter. i also noted that when pressing the brakes the instruments turned off and that whine got louder (not speedo which is a mechanical drive). I had not twigged the brake lights were not working - that became clear a little later when the cruise control did not cancel when I touched the brakes as I was exiting a dual carriageway. A quick touch on the on-off button sorted that.

I pulled out the big multi-function relay (I think it is called N10) and had a good look inside. I re-soldered what looked like a dry joint and cleaned up a few of the tracks that looked like there were getting a little corroded. I will order a used spare in any case.

The fix came with changing a fuse. Fuse 5 looked ok but clearly was not. When I replaced that fuse everything is back to working as it should, and no noise from the big relay so a nice cheap and easy fix.

Drove from Anglesey to Aberdare (and back) for the Welsh Masters track & field championships.

Apart from repeated slug modes car was fantastic. 4 hour drive and got out feeling relaxed & ready to run!

Also pinned down exactly when slug mode is happening and how (pending tracing & fixing the fault) to avoid it.

Once the car's warm, if you drop below about 15mph you lose turbo and kickdown unless you force a change into 1st gear before that. So looks like it's going to be a transmission issue rather than engine.

Back from our France odyssey.
Not displeased with this at all considering.

Not so happy about this:

Now most people's initial thoughts would be tracking is out (but it's not).
Then under inflation (it wasn't)...
Interestingly there was about a cupful of 2ater inside the tyre (and for the life of me I can't see how that much would get there).
What's actually happened is the carcass is delaminating from the steel belts under the tread. You can slide your hand between the belts and the carcass for about half the tyre width.

Chinese ditchfinders? No thanks.

Maybe @00slk owned the tyre before you ;) (as it’s full of water)

If you look carefully Wighty’s car is in the background (or at least it would be as I was just up the road by the small square building (pic taken late May (just not this year…)) and yes that is ice on the binoculars

Mercedes w218 CLS63 AMG now gone, RR Velar
Back from MSL Birmingham, my cls63 was stage1 remapped by the previous owner, bang’s, pop’s and many other noises, quite jumpy on revs and brutal in changing gears…in few words: a joke ! Andrew deleted everything, latest software version installed, original maps and now is stock, driving like a dream, smooth.
