Swapped a Briggs engine over on my garden rotavator. Its an old machine from the 70s but built like a tank. Managed to get like for like engine for 50 notes with brill compression. Cleaned the points, full service, just waiting on new head gasket as i decarbonised the head and valves.

Yesterday I started this last resort to end the unfixable safe mode issue on the truck. Every electrical component has been replaced. So a new wiring loom is going in!

Pity is isn't in 3 sections, it's the entire loom from cab to engine bay
Fingers crossed, this will ended the issue :)

Used to have a C63...
Prepped it for sale/trade over the last week... just reg to go on retention.

Then narrow down the options for replacement.

That’s the Disco Sport? How has it been for you?

Yup, the reason I got it changed back in Feb, so don't need the ability to do occasional light towing up a track anymore. (As it turned out, only towed with it 3 times).

It's been superb. In all honesty, if I could afford and justify having two cars, I'd keep it. Very comfortable, well-specced, on the run up to Holyhead back in April it averaged 49.7 mpg, and it hasn't missed a beat in the 2.5 yrs and 28k miles I've owned it. (Apart from 1 x passenger door catch, courtesy of 1 heavy-handed, impatient customer). I think they look nice and they're a nice place to be when covering miles (mine''s an HSE Luxury).

It actually drives quite well for an SUV, too... quite a decent front end on it. I just need to get back in to more horsepower, and now work has changed a bit, I'm doing a third of the mileage I was after Covid disappeared.

New second hand wiring loom installed, connected a few plugs together only to find 11 plugs totally wrong design  seriously!!
And it was going so well.
Special tool ordered to remove pins from plugs
Why do car manufacturers keep changing stuff from year to year

New tool arrived, now the next issue, all the pin sizes are totally different..........New wiring loom removed and the old one reinstalled :( Luckily my son was here to help with the job......the big job!
We have discovered one of the 20 pin engine connection plugs was corroded badly, could this have been the issue with the safe mode problem?
All back together now and will be test driving to Brockenhurst this weekend.....fingers crossed.

2003 ML270 sold but not forgotten. 2022 Kia EV6 RWD LR
Quick report on Kia EV6 after 3 months and 3000km. Absolutely NOTHING has gone wrong.....First car I've ever had that had zero faults from day 1. Unreal. Putting around 15/20 KWh into battery weekly from home charger. Cost - about $4.00. Very hard car to fault.

Can't see the After
There's 3 pictures. 1st one is 'before'. The 2nd and 3rd are 'after'.

Or don't the other pictures appear?

Ok. It's not a total redesign. I just wanted the nose to be a bit lower. Grill less high. Just an inch.

I can see the difference, it’s very subtle but certainly there
Yes. Subtle was the plan. The nose is now around 1.5 inches longer pulled forward and down an inch or so to make the top and bottom lines of the grill more parallel with each other.

In case you're wondering. My 'un' merc is a BMW.

Please don’t take this the wrong way but it reminds me every so slightly of the front end of a triumph spitfire, just the extended front bit not the whole thing if that makes sense

I know exactly what you mean. Those big arched front wings. That's the style from those days. MB did it too with the 50's 60's SLs.

You got it.

But not a real one. You know what they cost?

No. I'm building this based on my Z3. I've had the z3 almost 20 years and last year just after taking this picture decideď to chop it up and make it into a 507-like roadster.

This is the 'before'.

20220620_165302.jpg

I'll post an 'after' if I ever get it finishd
