I was just woundering I am doing up a 1987 200 as some people who have read aout my carb problems might know. I was just woundering if I was right in thinking it is a w124. Mercedes models are really over complicated also could it be a 200e or 200c what do these letters mean?

Is it a W124?

If it's an 87 200 it should be a W124. You can tell by looking at the chassis (VIN) number on the slam panel under the bonnet. If it's a W124 it'll start WDB124xxxxFyyyyyy where xxx is the model code and yyyyyy is the unique number. For example WDB1421912Fyyyyyy means it's a 300 Diesel multivalve

From the model codes, the E suffix denotes a fuel-injected car, T denotes an estate car and C a coupe

In 1993 (ish) it was changed to be E200 rather than 200E because the W124 became known as the E Class roundabout the same time as the 190 replacement was launched as the C Class

There will be a written test later - pay attention at the back!
