Picked up my E-Class today and im reading the same stuff i saw with my Ml, this 30 years warranty??
now reading through the service book it all appears rather vague. here is what i assume it is and you can tell me if im wrong because mercedes dont really put any meat on the bones.
Do i have the same warranty you get with a new car as long as i have it serviced with mercedes for 30 years?
do i have the same breakdown cover you get with a new car as long as merc service it?
i would be grateful for an explanation as to what cover you actually get and is it worth putting your merc in the dealer?

Normally you just go to the search button and search for threads on Mobilo.

But this will get you started with up-to-date info: -

BTW useful to put the car you own in your signature as I do -and many others- as it helps when raising queries.
Do you have fullMBSH so far?
Hi Malcolm, just read the basics of the link to this Mobilo and it has just cemented the fact that I need to look at it in more detail as I never knew the extent of cover provided. Thanks for the information and some light bedtime reading required in the near future. ;)

He only bought the car yesterday from MB Winchester

Yes, OK, but if it is secondhand it will/may still have a service record. And the Mobilo cover he will get depends on when his car was first registered and what the service record is. Given that info I can give him a simple summary of his Mobilo cover. (As does the link I provided)

I now see from the new signature (excellent!) that it is a 2008 car. If it is a new car (or nearly new and registered from April 1st 2008 onwards) then the link I have given will give a simple summary of the new Mobilo cover which is the best yet IMO.

If it is registered before April 1st 2008, the cover is less simple and less complete, but is still in the link given.

Thanks for the link but im still a bit confused as to what is actually covered in the warranty??
in the link it appears only minor mishaps? a bit vague.
my car is a 2006, surely there is something official from mercedes to say what is covered and im talking about electrics, engine, gearbox etc etc.

i have a full MB service history until now however if this warranty only covers minor mishaps then i dont think its worth paying the stealers service fees particularly as with any car ive traded whoever has serviced it has made no difference to the price whatsoever indeed i have yet to have a dealer even check my service book.

I agree. I'm picking up my car tomorrow am and have traded it with 'FMDSH'
It isn't, and I know they won't check. It's only going to go to an auction site anyway!

You asked about Mobilo in your first posting. That is the free breakdown cover you get. It covers you if you breakdown for any reason anywhere in UK or most of Europe and covers any driver of your car -unlike the AA etc where each driver needs their own cover. This also gives minor mishaps cover as I listed in the other link I gave you. In addition you get a thirty year rust guarantee subject to T's and C's such as using an approved bodyshop and so on.

Then there is the three year warranty. This covers almost everything and in all the years I have had a mercedes I have never been told 'sorry sir that is not covered'. Obvious consumables like tyres, pads, wiper blades, bulbs etc are the only exclusions I can think of.

When selling, some dealers are lazy and just look up Glass's Guide and give you the book figure. Others will check the service record and give more, and check the extras and give more for some of them. Auto adds its full cost, leather adds about half what it costs new, as does Avantgarde or Elegance etc. Comand adds about £1,000 to the trade value of a three year old E class. Some extras add nothing. Bigger engines can have a negative effect -especially if they are petrol. I usually go to several dealers when trading in and always get extra for the extras, the condition and the service history. Then I go back to the first one and see if they will match the other offers. Usually they do.

Don't forget when you get serviced, in addition to renewing Mobilo you also get free updates, recalls and service campaigns done and this goes on for about 5-6 years.

I find basic servicing at an MB dealer works out at a bit over 2p per mile. Bigger jobs, brakes etc can be done at an indie if you prefer.

Hi Hawk20, mine was registered 18/04/08 so luckily for me it gets the latest Mobilo cover. Will definately stick with MB servicing!!
On a different note I should have been a little bit more adventurous with my name/title, PanzerMcGrory is a great name!!
