I have been given the following options for the interior of my CLS:

- Standard leather, £1,120
- Club design leather, £1,600
- Nappa club design leather, £2,600

When I ask what the differences are the dealer just says:

"They're 3 different qualities of leather"

I have chosen Club design leather based on the fact that it's in the middle of the list. Can anyone give me anymore advice regarding the differences. For example do you get leather dashboard with all choices?

could you not have said to the dealer "have you got samples of the different kinds of leather?"
then slapped him one for his sarcastic answer "They're 3 different qualities of leather"

Your dealer should have all of the samples in the form of blocks that you can choose the colour and type, and match them with the paint samples.

Re the type of leather OK you gone middle of the road, the Nappa is a special MB leather, most often used in open cars, very hard though to fix any damage on. I think you have made the right choice.
Sadly the range of leathers on offer now has been cut down to very few colour choices. Whilst my friend was ordering his S class we had a job to find the right colour to go with the paint. He chose club is it does not look as smooth as the Nappa, and will never have the car long enough to get any benifit.
It is not leather on the dash, it simulated.

The catch when you comes when you order ventlated seats, you have to have the best leather as its the only one that's perferated.

Not sure Malcolm. I'm pretty sure I have the 'cheap' stuff and it's full of holes. A real pain when treating it as the moisturiser clogs the holes.
Never seem 'club' though I've always assumed that Nappa is the softer ruffled stuff.
Isn't the standard leather actually man made anyway?

On our E we've gone for the ventilated seats with normal leather. The Nappa was nice but not nearly 2 grand extra nice.

Hello JB the range of leather including the colours has been cut right back now to just 5 colours. In the show room two weeks ago when my friend ordered his S, we spent 2 hours going through them. All you have now is Black,Sand,Grey, and brown. the red looks more Brown, in fact I cant see the difference. they all look very dull . They used to do some blues. Next time you go past an MB outlet pick up the new book, you will be horrified I am sure-at the new range. the Nappa has a very hard smooth surface, very hard to re colour , and impossible to match on a repair.

Never thought much about the holes and feeding, I think that yours must be leather, otherwise it would be called simulated or something like that

With mine being an open top I feed with sadle soap (transperant) I will let you know how it works in the holes

MB Tex used to be the standard simulated leather. It will say it on the VIN decoder if you have it.

So let's put this in perspective:

MB dealer

"What is the difference between standard and nappa leather?"

£1,000 mate.

KFC server

"What is the difference between standard and curly fries?"

23p mate.

Now I know where they go when they grow up!!
