What model are these Mercedes Limos?

Hi everyone,

I'm trying to find out the models of the Merc Limousines in the attached pictures.

The first picture is rather blurry I'm afraid and I've been stumped for a while, though to me the front looks a lot like a S600 Pullman Guard.

The second one is much clearer, though to my eye isn't trained enough to be able to tell the difference between the various S550s out there, so I thought I'd refer it to the experts.

S Class based for sure...engine size, hard to tell from the pics...but big ones for sure also.

Thanks for the reply. It seems clear to me that they are also two different models right? To me it seems that the second one has a door in the middle on the right hand side that is not visible in first picture, and also a large orange indicator near the front wheel.

Limos are coach built by specialist companies...it would be difficult to know all about all of them...the one in the second pic is also LHD.

Ah ha I see. Can't be too many companies though that custom make limousines of this kind?

Thanks for your help so far. Xtractorfan, yes that is indeed where I pulled the pic of the second limo from. As it says in the blurb its from North Korea's state run media outlet KCNA. I'm actually a North Korea (though not North Korean!) journo just doing a bit of light digging on these.

A further question if I may, from when were the S class bases that the limos have been customised from first available, was it 2005 or 2006?

I suspect the 'orange indicators' are actually reflectors - as seen in the US market - both cars and bikes (on fork legs) have reflectors on the side as well as the back?

Don't know which other markets require them.
